Underdog Fantasy
A web/mobile application where users can play fantasy sports including Best Ball, Daily Drafts and Pick’em.
Process Work
Underdog Fantasy, a prominent sports betting app, faced significant user experience and interface design challenges that affected user engagement and satisfaction. The primary issues included complex navigation, overwhelming data presentation, inconsistent branding, and poor mobile optimization. To address these problems, we aimed to simplify navigation, organize data more effectively, enhance the visual identity, and optimize the app for mobile devices.
We began by conducting user interviews, analyzing competitor apps, and performing usability tests on the existing interface. This research revealed that users preferred a streamlined betting process, valued real-time updates, and required a mobile-first approach due to heavy app usage on mobile devices.
The redesign process involved creating wireframes and prototypes to outline a more intuitive navigation structure and improved data presentation. The new UI featured a bottom navigation bar with clear icons for core functions, a dashboard layout with organized data tabs, and a consistent visual style reflecting the brand’s identity. Mobile optimization was a priority, ensuring the app performed well across various devices and screen sizes.
Results
Following beta testing and user feedback, the redesigned app achieved a 35% increase in active users, a 20% increase in session length, and a 25% boost in conversion rates for placing bets. User satisfaction scores also improved, with many praising the enhanced usability and aesthetics. The project demonstrated the significant impact of thoughtful UX and UI design on app performance and user satisfaction, highlighting the importance of ongoing updates and user feedback to maintain a competitive edge.
